ninth, eighth and sixth, while the fourth seed has advanced to the
championship game on three occasions. Iowa became the lowest-seeded team to
win the event in 2001, as the sixth-seeded Hawkeyes defeated Indiana in the
final. The top-seeded team has won the tournament only once - Michigan State

St. Joseph's won in 1997. Villanova, West Virginia, Rutgers and Pittsburgh
won this tournament twice and Penn State once when members of the conference.
Harper Williams of Massachusetts is the only player in tournament history
to win Most Valuable player honors twice (1993-94). This is the second year
in a row that the tournament will be held at the University of Dayton Arena.
The format reverts back to one site after last year's tournament saw opening
rounds played at campus sites. Fordham is the only team in the event never
to win a tournament game (0-8). Last year, Dayton captured the event for
the first time, as they defeated Temple, 79-72 in the final. The Flyers
were seeded second in the west while the Owls were seeded second in the East.

eastern. South Carolina won the ACC title in 1971 when it was a member of
the conference. With last year's 84-77 title game win over NC State,
Duke became the first team in ACC history to win five straight ACC titles.
With a tournament title this year, Duke would tie North Carolina for
overall ACC crowns with 15. The Blue Devils have also won an ACC-record 15
straight ACC Tournament games. Duke is 25-14 in Greensboro with five titles.
North Carolina is 31-11 in Greensboro with seven titles. The number-one seed
has won this tournament 23 times while the number-two seed has 12 victories.
Duke was seeded third last year. The fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth seeds
have never won this tournament. There have been 31 overtimes in the 50 years
of the tournament. NC State owns a 7-1 overtime mark while North Carolina is
8-4. Clemson has never won an overtime game (0-3) in the ACC Tournament.
North Carolina owns a winning record against all teams in the ACC except
Duke (8-11). Last year, Daniel Ewing became the fifth straight Blue Devil
to win tournament MVP honors.

eastern. Georgia Tech won this tournament when it was a member of the
conference in 1938. Kentucky has appeared in the title game ten of the last
12 years, wining on nine occasions. Kentucky is undefeated in conference
tournament play against Georgia, Ole Miss and South Carolina with a combined
record of 22-0. Last year, Kentucky, seeded first in the east, captured its
24th SEC tournament title with a 64-57 win over the top seed in the west,
Mississippi State. The Georgia Dome serves as the site of the 12-team
tournament for the fifth time in seven years and the sixth time overall
in league history. Florida and South Carolina are the only schools never to
win this event.
